My Fat Cat is bottled by Black Mountain Vineyards in Napa, California. VinoList.com suggests pairing this wine with: Beef, duck, game, green veggies, grilled beef, hard cheese, lamb, mushrooms, mustard sauce, parmigiano reggiano, pepper sauce, rare tuna, red wine sauce, roast beef, roast chicken, sharp cheese, smoked chicken, squash, steaks. Kind of a random list of foods, right? But it works perfectly for me because guess what my wine pairing suggestion would be? Everything! This wine pairs with everything for me.
- Beef
- Chicken
- Vegetarian
- Pork
- Red Vines
- Potato Chips
- Soup
- Nachos
OK, you get it. No discriminating, here! I drink it with everything because it is so delicious and tastes excellent, no matter what you're eating. VinoList.com also lists the tasting notes for the Cab as such: black currants (cassis), cherries, cedar, spice, plum, tobacco, mint, eucalyptus. Mmmmm. I've heard really good things about their Pinot Noir and Merlot as well. Worth a try, I say.
So obviously, I'm not a wine connoisseur as you can see from my list above (Red Vines, anyone?) What I am is a lover of wines that I can afford, and Fat Cat is definitely one of those. An affordable $4.99! That's not a typo, my friends. It's $4.99. I have only seen it at Trader Joe's. This store is the one thing I miss since we moved from Phoenix (besides friends and family, of course). My fellow Trader Joe's fans, you can empathize, I'm sure. Special trips have been made to PHX so we could load up at TJ's on our favorite wine and food items. PRESCOTT, AZ is getting a Trader Joe's! Pure happiness in my heart. It should be done in January 2012, and I impatiently await its arrival.
Note to Self: Next "Mama's Favorite Things" post - All about Trader Joe's! :D
Alas, it is not even lunch time for me yet, so I shall continue on with my day and perhaps I'll indulge a little bit tonight in my current read (Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins) and some Fat Cat.
Salud!

Don't you just love Trader Joes! I'm coming from the VoiceBoks Face/Twitter share, and your Twitter link is not working on your profile, just to let you know. Nice to meet you!

Trader Joes had the best sparkling white wine. I don't know the name of it, but I know the bottle. Yum!
Wine + books - what could be better? :)
